Troubleshooting

Pairing not working straight away? Here are quick fixes for the most common situations.

My phone doesn't scan the QR code

If your camera doesn't pick up the QR code straight away, try this:

  • Make sure your computer screen brightness isn't too low.
  • Move your phone a little closer or further away to focus.
  • Use the built-in camera app instead of a third-party QR scanner.
My phone asks for camera access but won't start

Mobile browsers are strict about camera permissions:

  • In your mobile browser settings (Safari or Chrome), check that camera access is allowed for web.snapdf.net.
  • Make sure no other app (such as Zoom or WhatsApp) is holding the camera.
  • Refresh the page on your phone and connect again.
The connection (WebRTC) is stuck on 'Connecting...'

SnapDF tries to set up a direct P2P connection between phone and PC. Sometimes that gets blocked:

  • Strict corporate firewalls or an active VPN can block P2P traffic. Turn off your VPN temporarily on a public or restrictive network.
  • Make sure both devices have internet access. Mobile data on your phone and Wi-Fi on your PC usually work fine together.
  • Close the tab on both devices and reopen web.snapdf.net for a fresh session.
Photos arrive blurry on my computer

This is usually down to lighting or the camera sensor:

  • Use plenty of light, or switch on the flash in the scanner on your phone.
  • Tap your phone screen to focus manually on the document before taking the photo.
